At the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase, Microsoft revealed that Overwatch 2 will roll out as a free-to-play title on October 4. Unfortunately, the October launch for the best-selling hero-based shooter by Blizzard is an “Early Access”, meant to give audiences a taste of the full version’s PvP component as well as its newest heroes: Sojourn and Junker Queen. Overwatch 2 will change plenty from the original squad-based paid title....

Xbox Chief Phil Spencer recently claimed that Sony wants to protect its dominance by opposing the deal. Sony is the most vocal opponent of the merger between Microsoft and Activision and claimed that it will trigger a price hike. Speaking on the Second Request podcast, Spencer said Sony wants to grow the PlayStation brand by “making Xbox smaller.” “There’s really only been one major opposer to the deal and it’s Sony, and Sony’s trying to protect their dominance on console, and the way they grow is by making Xbox smaller,” Spencer stated....

It appears that the massive open-world setting of Violet and Scarlet has a negative impact on performance. Early reviews for the newest Pokémon game have reported that the Switch can’t handle the game. A now-viral video shared by gamer @Cherrim on Twitter gives a better idea of the extent of the issue. The game stutters when a player attempts to capture a Pokémon in the wild. Reports also indicate that the scenery disappears or gets distorted when the trainer throws Pokéballs....

According to Tom Henderson, cyber sleuths found something interesting in the API code from the Origins store on the PC. Specifically, the data miners saw proof that Skate 4 is currently in its testing phase, with a phrase saying that “playtest will not transfer to skate. main game.” This implies that EA wants to reboot the Skate franchise with Skate 4, which explains why the code refers to the game as just Skate instead of Skate 4....

For the past year, we’ve heard rumors that Modern Warfare 2 will get two years of support. Although Activision Blizzard is still refusing to explicitly state that Modern Warfare 2 will get two years’ worth of support, Jason Schreier reveals that the wording all but confirms this....

The program will operate as a Talk Show featuring Resident Evil Village and Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. The hosts for the Resident Evil Village segment include Capcom’s director Morimasa Sato, model Kayo Satoh, and Hatsune Matsushima, while the hosts for the Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade segment are Square Enix’s producer Yoshinori Kitase, actress Hatsune Matsushima, and Takuya Nakamura. After its initial announcement last year, fans have been waiting for Nintendo to post an update that would narrow down Splatoon 3’s 2022 release date. Several hype-inducing gameplay trailers later, we finally know when the squid kids will splatter ink for the Nintendo Switch. According to Nintendo’s most recent announcement, Splatoon 3 will hit the market on September 9. The first-ever Square Enix Presents was announced in early March and it seems Square Enix intends to make it a regular series, with the next one scheduled for Summer 2021. Hot on the heels of 2021’s first State of Play showcase, the Japanese entertainment conglomerate decided to hold their own showcase in the form of Square Enix Presents. This Square Enix Presents highlighted 10 different games and expansions for a variety of platforms....

According to CIG’s COO Carl Jones, Chris Roberts has his hands full. Jones explains that Roberts is setting up a new Manchester studio while expanding the team’s size to help speed up Star Citizen’s development. Jones gave a possible timeline of “one or two years more,” as to when Squadron 42 will release. But, since this is CIG we are talking about, we should take what Jones just said with a grain of salt....
