In these technical tests, not only was PvP showcased, but also the advanced AI that governs the bots that fill lobbies when not enough flesh and blood fans are online. Bots in FPS games have been around for decades, but programming them to be anywhere more intelligent than the NPC opponents you’d fight in a single player campaign remained an insurmountable challenge....

Sony officially confirmed the upcoming PlayStation Plus rebrand, which is scheduled to arrive as soon as June 2022, and it’s something. But, before we dive deep into what the consensus is on the new all-new PlayStation Plus, let’s talk more about what was announced first. According to the official blog post, the rebranded PlayStation Plus is a three-tier service that merges PS Plus and PS Now, amongst other things. According to the official announcement, Rainbow Six Mobile will bring the core gameplay of 2015’s Rainbow Six Siege to mobile devices, including everything from the destructible environments and all the thingamajigs that players get to use to push ahead into the defending team and vice versa. However, Rainbow Six Mobile is not a 1:1 adaptation of Rainbow Six Siege, as Ubisoft had to make compromises. Resident Evil is one of the most popular games in the horror genre, and Capcom is looking to expand the available platforms for one of its most loved franchises. During Nintendo Direct, in collaboration with Capcom, Nintendo announced that the recent installments of the Resident Evil franchise are coming to Nintendo Switch later this year. According to reports, a retailer in the United States had “accidentally” released a handful of copies of God of War: Ragnarok before November 9....

Sony Japan Studio released the cult classic JRPG just as it prepared to close the lifecycle of the PS1 and focus on the newly-introduced follow-up, PS2. The Legend of Dragoon wasn’t the biggest hit among audiences or critics at launch. But, the game’s popularity grew over the years to the point that fans have been asking for a sequel or at least a remake or remaster for modern consoles. A little over two decades later and this might be happening soon....

Pierre Dandumont uploaded a video online showing him running Mac OS 9.2 on a Wii. It’s in French, so you’ll have to use Google Translate to understand. But, Dandumont does an excellent job of explaining the process. As expected, the workaround isn’t straightforward nor is it convenient at all. Dandumont achieved the “impossible” by running a Linux-based OS on the Wii’s PowerPC chip. As it’s a close relative to the PowerPC processors used in the Mac G3s way back then, the Wii theoretically could run a Mac-on Linux....

According to the German website, Games Wirtschaft, the console manufacturer is joining Nintendo, Take-Two Interactive, and Activision Blizzard, as companies that will not attend the event. Square Enix’s Triangle Strategy was originally released exclusively for Nintendo Switch earlier this year. The game is similar to Final Fantasy Tactics, also published by Square Enix. Triangle Strategy is developed by Artdink under a talented team led by Tomoya Asano. The same team is also responsible for popular recent releases such as the Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent and Bravely Default series. Like the Octopath Traveler and Bravely Default, the new HD-2D game garnered many positive reviews, and it was only right for it to be released for PC players as well....

Take-Two Interactive CEO, Strauss Zelnick, is a fan of the buyout. Zelnick even went as far as to call Microsoft as an “ally” in an interview with The Wrap. According to Zelnick, a “more powerful” Microsoft is good for the entire industry. Zelnick is also open to the competition, saying it’s ultimately up to the consumer to decide. Zelnick adds that gamers will “show up” if there’s a good title, regardless of who makes it....

Although the Polish video game developer has released dozens of games over the years, it has stuck to just one IP since 2015 - Dying Light. After releasing Dying Light 2 to mixed but expected critical reviews, Techland is now working on its first IP for years and it’s actually pretty good. The Polish studio confirmed that it’s working on an “unannounced AAA Open World Action-RPG in a fantasy setting,” which sounds a lot like Dying Light but with magic and swords....

Having said that, the DCEU just made headlines for all the wrong reasons this week after Ezra Miller, the lead actor for the upcoming Flash film, was arrested in Hilo, Hawaii for disorderly conduct and harassment, with a couple also reportedly filing a restraining order against Miller for breaking and entering. Shortly after the rest of the world got wind of the separate incidents, Rolling Stone reported that Miller’s future in the DCEU is in jeopardy....
