343 Industries plans to make an update about the game’s roadmap today and it looks like fans will have a longer wait for co-op mode. Halo community director, Brian Jarrard, had a cryptic message about the co-op campaign’s target release. Jarrard replied to a tweet by a Halo fan on the delay of the co-op campaign saying “Targets are a stake in the ground at the time but of course subject to change. We’ll have a roadmap update tomorrow on what to expect with Infinite in the months ahead.”

Where is Halo Infinite’s co-op campaign?
Halo’s co-op campaign mode has been a fan favorite since its introduction. In Halo 5, a fire team consists of four Spartans, each with its own role. During multiplayer co-op missions, players take control of these Spartans adapting to the role assigned to them and acting as a cohesive unit to fulfill objectives. Completing missions with buddies was a huge selling point for Halo. So, when Halo Infinite first came out, fans wondered where the multiplayer co-op campaign was. At the moment, it appears that it’s still stuck in beta. The beta test was hampered by the lack of multiplayer matchmaking which will also not be included as a feature when co-op becomes available to everyone. The lack of multiplayer matchmaking meant that you needed to have friends to play co-op missions with. Otherwise, you will have to look for a community or have to play solo. The beta test from the game mode also suffered from desync and rubberbanding issues similar to what players encountered in other multiplayer modes of the game. There are also reports of visual bugs where players riding in vehicles get stuck. Finally, the co-op mode limits non-host players to stay within 1,000 meters of the host at all times. TLDR; 343 needs more time to sort the Halo Infinite issues out. Hopefully, 343 sticks to its promise to release an updated roadmap soon. Better yet, 343 might want to stop referring to their “targets” as release dates and just say that they’re all tentative. This is a good way to temper expectations. As we wait for the new game mode, fans can look forward to the September 6 event, The Yappening. During the event, Yapyap the Destroyer will take over the servers and add all kinds of weird stuff into the game. How about we let Yapyap the Destroyer take over until they release the co-op game mode?
