Is Persona 6 confirmed to be in the works?

The Persona series is an off-shoot from the Megami Tensei franchise. The Persona games first started back in 1996 and have since been a staple of the video game industry. Many consider Persona as one of the best spin-off titles to ever release. This means that the next installment will have a lot to live up to. With at least six years separating Persona 6 (or whatever it will be called) from Persona 5, Atlus will have the benefit of time to work on the next installment and release it to a wave of excited fans. While releasing Persona 4 and 5 on the PC back in 2020 was a nice touch, it’s not a new Persona game. However, even if an official announcement of the next entry is nowhere to be found, there is an official recruitment page being used by Atlus Japan and that confirms Persona 6 is in development. Atlus director Naoto Hiraoki said in an interview that the current staff working on the Persona games isn’t enough to realize the vision that the studio has for Persona 6. He explains that this is the reason why Atlus wants to recruit more talent to their development team, in the hopes of creating Persona 6. At the moment, it is unknown just how far along into the development process Atlus is on Persona 6. The game might not even be in active development yet. However, when you consider the company’s recent teasers and the recruitment drive, it’s safe to say that Atlus is all hands on deck on Persona 6. It’s probably only a matter of time before we hear more about Persona 6. If it’s any consolation, longtime Persona fans know better than to expect each game in the series to release soon after another. So far, anywhere between 3 to 9 years have separated the release of each Persona game. The longest gap was between 1999’s Persona 2: Innocent Sin and 2008’s Persona 3.
