Crysis Remastered Trilogy will include remasters of Crysis, Crysis 2, and Crysis 3. It has a Fall 2021 release window on the PC, as well as PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and the Xbox Series S/X.

Get Ready for Crysis Remastered Trilogy

Throughout the late 2000s and early 2010s, the prevalent meme among PC builders was, “Can it run Crysis?”. At the time of its release in 2007, Crysis was such a groundbreaking and revolutionary game. It was equal parts technological demo and AAA shooter. It gained Crytek a lot of fame. In particular, how Crysis pushed video game graphics to the point that it was used as a pseudo benchmark many years after it was first released. Crytek eventually released sequels with Crysis 2 and Crysis 3 in 2011 and 2013, respectively. However, nearly a decade since the release of the Crysis games, Crytek seems to have moved on. At least, that was what most people thought until the studio released Crysis Remastered in Summer 2020. Despite Crysis Remastered’s less-than-stellar launch, many fans were still wondering when remasters of Crysis 2 and Crysis 3 were coming. Crytek itself teased the possibility earlier throughout the entire month of May. Now, Crytek has finally confirmed that Crysis Remastered Trilogy is in the works. Unfortunately, outside of confirming that it will release Crysis Remastered Trilogy, Crytek did detail what kind of upgrades Crysis 2 and Crysis 3 will receive as part of the remaster. However, judging by what it did to Crysis Remastered, we can expect Crysis 2 and Crysis 3 to support HDR and ray tracing, as well as run on up to 8K resolution. We’re also hoping that Crytek has learned a lot from Crysis Remastered. The remaster of 2007’s Crysis was originally announced in April 2020 with a July 2020 release date. However, after screenshots of the game’s lackluster visuals leaked, Crytek pushed it back for a September 2020 release date instead. If it’s any consolation, Crytek’s teaser trailer is showing a much-better-looking game than the leaked screenshots of Crysis Remastered last year did. In addition to the Crysis Remastered Trilogy, Crytek intends to release remastered versions of Crysis 2 and Crysis 3 as standalone titles in the future. Also, none of Crysis 2 and Crysis 3 will be coming with multiplayer gameplay. With that said, the Crysis Remastered trilogy is essentially a glorified texture pack that is specifically designed to make all three Crysis games run on modern consoles and PCs with no problems. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Even though all three previous Crysis games still look beautiful on modern PCs, getting the games to run takes a bit of tweaking, especially when we’re talking about the first Crysis game.
