However, after spending more than a year as criticism fodder, the public opinion on CD Projekt RED’s most controversial game is starting to change for the better. In fact, according to the CEO of the Polish company, Adam Kiciński, Cyberpunk 2077 sales have gone up over the first three months of 2022 and much of it is due to the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X versions of the game that came out in February. The sales chart reveals that Cyberpunk 2077 saw at least a 600% increase in sales in Q1 of 2022. Of course, just because CDPR says Cyberpunk 2077 sold at least six times more than before, doesn’t mean that CDPR is raking the money. Without numbers to back up its claims, we have no way of knowing if it’s 1,000 in sales from the last quarter turning into 6,000, or if it’s higher than that. Then again, this shouldn’t come as a big surprise. Cyberpunk 2077 started turning heads on Steam in November and subsequent updates have only made the game better. There’s a litany of reasons to play Cyberpunk 2077 in 2022, and very few reasons to skip it. Not to mention, with a massive expansion coming up, the sales figure of Cyberpunk 2077 should go up in the coming months. Perhaps the better question now is, what’s next for Cyberpunk 2077? Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most expensive video games ever made, costing CDPR nearly a decade’s worth of effort and roughly $175 million. Initially, CDPR saw Cyberpunk 2077 as its next big franchise. Unfortunately, the negative reception forced CDPR to go radio silent on its former plans for Cyberpunk 2077. However, if this keeps up, who knows? We might finally get to see that long-rumored multiplayer DLC for Cyberpunk 2077. Speaking of Cyberpunk 2077, make sure that you tune into Netflix Geeked Week from June 6-10. According to the streaming giant, it will show off Cyberpunk Edgerunners at the said virtual event alongside more footage of its upcoming shows such as a new Cuphead season as well as Resident Evil.
