Several game-breaking bugs and issues plagued Cyberpunk 2077 for months that ultimately led to the game being delisted from both the Microsoft Store and the PlayStation Store. With that said, recent rumors suggested that CD Projekt RED was preparing to release Cyberpunk 2077 to Xbox Game Pass. Although this would have been an awesome acquisition on Microsoft’s part, it appears that this speculation was false, with someone from CDPR now debunking the rumors.

Does CD Projekt RED need to bring Cyberpunk 2077 to the Xbox Game Pass

Microsoft’s efforts to make Xbox Game Pass the ultimate video game subscription service have not been in vain. At E3 2021, Microsoft dropped a long list of exclusive titles and big names that were headed straight to the Xbox Game Pass library at launch. So far, we’ve seen games like Forza Horizon 5 and Microsoft Flight Simulator launch on the Xbox Game Pass, with Halo Infinite and Starfield also set to join once they release. But, while Microsoft is more than willing to throw absurd amounts of cash to secure games for the Xbox Game Pass, it appears that not all games can be bought - yet. Earlier this week, rumors were floating around that Cyberpunk 2077 was coming to the Xbox Game Pass. However, CD Projekt Red’s Global PR Director, Radek Grabowski, was quick to shoot down such talk.

— Radek (@gamebowski) November 19, 2021 Grabowski’s latest statement echoes what he said over a year ago before Cyberpunk 2077 launched. With that said, this doesn’t necessarily mean that Cyberpunk 2077 will never be available on the popular platform. Instead, this just means to say that Microsoft and CD Projekt RED have not agreed to a deal yet. This is understandable as Cyberpunk 2077 is still far from complete. CDPR’s latest AAA title just became barely playable with its next-gen version set to be delayed until 2022. If Microsoft is indeed looking to make a play for Cyberpunk 2077, it is better off waiting for CDPR to finish ironing out the game’s issues first. Otherwise, such an investment will probably do more harm than good. In the meantime, it’s not like Microsoft is leaving Xbox Game Pass subscribers wanting more. For November, Microsoft just added the aforementioned title, Forza Horizon 5, as well as It Takes Two (via EA Play) and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas The Definitive Edition, among others.
