In the latest 30-second television spot, we can see potential proof that Wanda Maximoff might not side with Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange in the Doctor Strange sequel. In addition to Maximoff’s rumored turn towards the dark side, the new teaser also prompts questions. For example, what is Palmer wearing? We’re all certain that this is not the same Palmer that audiences got to see in 2016’s Doctor Strange. Instead, this is a variant of Strange’s former flame. This is possibly the same Palmer seen inside the Illuminati headquarters. We’re also itching to find out more about Mordo’s return. His line about always suspecting that “this day would come” and Strange’s retort suggests that this is the same Mordo that had vowed to strip sorcerers of their powers following the events of the first Doctor Strange film. However, the former hero’s appearance in the trailer comes just right before Strange makes an uncharacteristically worried face. Is Strange’s duel against Mordo proving to be more than he can handle? Or is Strange find a more deadly threat? Marvel Studios is now in its final phase of marketing for Multiverse of Madness ahead of its May 6 premiere. Thus, we can expect to see more short teasers and TV spots after “Ready”. Interestingly enough, several insiders have abandoned their initial claims about how certain characters would appear in Doctor Strange 2. Some are even saying that Marvel Studios has dropped its plans to feature Tom Cruise’s Iron Man and Tom Hiddleston’s Loki as well as Tobey Maguire’s Peter Park. Of course, Marvel Studios never confirmed these characters in the first place. It’s premature to rule out anything until the film comes out. We already “know” that Patrick Stewart will reprise his role as Professor Xavier from the now-defunct X-Men franchise due to an earlier trailer and the Illuminati is somehow involved in the movie. As always, Marvel Studios has done an excellent job keeping the plot details under wrap, so we’re all at the mercy of time. Judging by the ticket pre-sales numbers, all the grapevine talks have made audiences very anxious and excited to confirm everything they have heard about the Doctor Strange sequel. TLDR; Multiverse of Madness just can’t come soon enough.
