As per the announcement, F1 22 is coming on July 1 and will introduce several new things to the franchise’s established formula. As confirmed from our earlier report, Electronic Arts and Codemasters aren’t bringing back F1 21’s story mode, Braking Point. Instead, F1 22 will have a customizable hub, F1 life, where players can show off everything earned from playing F1 22. As an official Formula One game, F1 22 will reflect the new changes like the Miami circuit as well as the revamped Australia and Abu Dhabi layouts, among others. According to F1 Senior Creative Director, Lee Mather, Codemasters focused on making F1 22 feel more like the real thing as well. Mather explained that the studio has “updated the physics to accommodate the new area rules and reworked the tyre model, making the handling more true to life.” Mather described F1 22 as the best time for “players to take their seats and live the life of an F1 driver.” Speaking of, EA says that the new adaptive AI will adjust depending on the skill level of the players without necessarily removing the challenge. As a result, less-experienced players won’t feel as if the AI has it out for them. Accessible menus and handling also guarantee that beginners won’t feel lost while playing F1 2022. At the same time, hardcore franchise fans can still rely on a good race from the AI despite their years of experience. In addition, the incoming"immersive" and broadcast" options will help make race day experiences feel more authentic. The former lets players take on rise-reward challenges while the latter is geared towards “controlled and authentic cinematics” to enhance the action. Finally, F1 22 will support PC VR functionality. This means that players can finally race in VR using popular headsets such as Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive. There’s no word yet if F1 22 will have cross-play or not. Other returning modes from previous F1 titles include the 10-year career mode, the two-player career options, as well as MyTeam, and the online multiplayer mode. For those who would like to race ahead of the pack, EA is giving three days of early access on top of a time-limited Miami-inspired content pack for players that will pre-order the Champions Edition before May 16.
