The PC version of FIFA 22 will limit players to one game activation per system. If you’ve purchased the game on one PC, then you cannot get another copy on any of your other PCs. If you plan to buy the game on Steam, you will be limited to just one copy on your PC. This statement also seen on FIFA 22’s Steam page, but it seems that the “1 machine activation limit” line has been removed since its discovery. This is clearly an attempt to steer the players towards EA’s own game launcher - Origin. Te Origin version of the game isn’t limited to the same one copy per machine rule. This isn’t the first time EA has attempted such a foul DRM practice. EA has a reputation for such anti-gamer policies, like allowing only a five-time activation limit on several games, such as Dead Space 2. The major issue with this DRM activation rule is that if you change your PC or upgrade the motherboard, you will have to repurchase FIFA 22. This is because the DRM is usually associated with the motherboard, in order to get the system’s identification information. And, as if things weren’t bad enough for PC players already, the PC version of FIFA 22 won’t be getting any of the game’s next-gen features, such as their new highly marketed HyperMotion technology.

While we do understand where EA is coming from, it is still very unfortunate that players with high-end rigs will not be able to enjoy the maximum next-gen features the game has to offer. Did we mention that the game’s Standard Edition won’t come with a free next-gen upgrade if you’ve bought the game on PS4 or Xbox One? Yeah, you’ll need to buy the Ultimate Edition to be able to do that. It will just be PS5 and Xbox Series X owners that can rejoice, being able to play the new and improved FIFA 22 with Hypermotion technology and more realistic animations.
