Final Fantasy VII Remake’s Steam release was part of the game’s 25th celebration livestream on Thursday as Square Enix gave audiences a glimpse into the future of the popular Final Fantasy installment. According to Square Enix, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade, which is an expanded version of the 2020 title, will be available on Valve’s popular digital storefront on Friday, June 17. Yoshinori Kitase also confirmed during the showcase that the Steam version of FF7R will be “verified” for the Steam Deck. So, if you’ve ever wanted to experience the story of Final Fantasy VII on the go (or, at least, part of it), the Steam release of the FF7 Remake will let you do just that. Final Fantasy 7 is Square Enix’s first mini-franchise within the Final Fantasy series. After the success of the 1997 title, Final Fantasy 7 would go on to get multiple spin-offs as well as a sequel film, 2006’s Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. However, news of anything related to Final Fantasy 7 would lie dormant for years until the announcement of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake in 2015. Since then, Square Enix has doubled down on FF7. As revealed during the showcase, Final Fantasy 7 Remake is the first game in a three-part series. The second one, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, is set to release in Winter 2023. Square Enix is also releasing an upgraded version of 2007’s Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, which was originally a PSP exclusive, this December on all major platforms. In other Final Fantasy news, the JRPG franchise will celebrate its 35th anniversary later this year.
