However, it’s hard to deny that the three games are starting to show their age. With that said, fans have been asking Rockstar for years to work on remasters of the classic GTA titles and it appears that the studio is finally listening.

When will Rockstar confirm the GTA Remastered Trilogy?

There have been talks of remastered versions of GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas for years. However, it wasn’t until earlier this year that people began taking these rumors seriously after a report suggested that a trilogy bundle containing all three games was in development with a 2022 release window. The hype got a boost after hawk-eyed observers spotted the GTA Remastered Trilogy on the Korean ratings board. Now, data miners have found further proof that Rockstar is going to release Unreal Engine versions of all three titles, at least on the PC.

— GTANet (@GTANet) October 5, 2021 Audiences can’t see this information on the launcher just yet. However, data miners using a hex editor found references to Unreal Engine versions of GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas. In particular, the files go under the names “gta3unreal”, “gtavcunreal”, and “gtasaunreal”. Rockstar did not use Unreal Engine for the 2000s’ classic GTA titles nor has the studio ever used the popular game engine for GTA IV and GTA V either. This suggests that the listings all reference something different if not new. Unfortunately, this is the extent of the datamined information so far. There’s still no clue as to when Rockstar is going to announce the remasters. It might be tomorrow, it might be next week, or it might be next month. Rockstar might never even announce the trilogy until it is already available to download and play. At this point, all fans can do is wait and see what Rockstar does next. Speaking of waiting for Rockstar’s next move, the fandom is also waiting on the studio to talk more about GTA 6. The latest leak suggests that Rockstar is going to announce the long-rumored GTA installment in November, but until we get official word, we recommend taking everything you hear with a strong dose of salt.
