Meet Gowry
The first encounter you will have with Gowry is at his shack. To get to Gowry’s Shack, start from Sellia Gateway and head north until you see a wooden shack to your right. Head inside the shack and you will see Gowry sitting inside. Talk to him and he will ask you a favor. Accept his request and he will ask you to find Millicent, who is stricken with Scarlet Rot. Talk to him again and he will ask you to find an item called the Unalloyed Gold Needle. Exhaust his dialogue before moving to the next step.
Search for the Unalloyed Gold Needle
To search for the Unalloyed Gold Needle, you need to go to the area southeast of Inner Aeonia. Start from the Inner Aeonia site of grace and head northeast. When you reach past the tree roots, you will encounter a boss called Commander O’ Neil. We recommend fighting him while you are on your mount, to make this boss fight easier. Once you defeat him, you will get the Unalloyed Gold Needle and Commander’s Standard.
Give Gowry the needle
Once you have the Unalloyed Gold Needle, simply return to Gowry and give him the needle. He will give you Sellia’s secrets and asks you to return after some time because he needs to repair the needle. Reset or fast travel and return to his shack. He will give you the needle and ask you to give it to Millicent, who is suffering from the Scarlet Rot illness.
Find Millicent
We need to find Millicent next and give her the needle. To find Millicent, go to the Church of Plague, as shown on the map above. To get to the Church of Plague, start from the Caelim Ruins and head east until you reach Fort Faroth. When you reach Fort Faroth, head southwest until you reach the Church of Plague. Go inside the Church and you will see Millicent sitting next to a wall. Talk to her and give her the Unalloyed Gold Needle. Reset or fast travel then go back to the Church. Talk to Millicent and she will give you the Prosthesis-Wearer Heirloom. Talk to her again and you can move on to the next step.
Go back to Gowry
After talking to Millicent, go back to Gowry and you will find Millicent in his shack. Talk to Millicent and exhaust her dialogue. Reset or fast travel and you will see Gowry back inside his shack. Talk to Gowry and he will sell you sorcery spells. Tell him that Millicent paid a visit. Exhaust his dialogue and purchase spells if you want to. From here on out, we will be focusing on Millicent’s questline first. You can only complete Gowry’s questline after completing Millicent’s questline.
Go to the Erdtree Gazing Hill
Go to the Erdtree Gazing Hill in the Altus Plateau. From the Erdtree Gazing Hill site of grace, head northeast. You will see Millicent standing near the mountain edge. Talk to Millicent and she will express her regret about her arm. Keep talking to her until she tells you about Malenia.
Retrieve the Valkyrie Prosthesis
Go to the southwest part of the Shaded Castle and head east towards the castle walls. Jump across the gap as shown in the map above and you will see an opening in the castle walls. Go inside then head down the stairs. Turn right and follow this path until you see an opening to your left, leading to a red roof. Jump to the red roof and keep heading southeast until you see a small wooden ladder to your left. Climb up the ladder then head down, follow the path to your left until you reach the opening to the tower. Enter this tower and open the chest inside to get the Valkyrie Prosthesis. Once you have the Valkyrie Prosthesis, go back to the Erdtree Gazing Hill and give the Prosthesis to Millicent. Talk to her and be sure to exhaust her dialogue before moving on. Make sure to check out Gowry’s Shack from time to time because he offers new spells like the Pest Threads incantation.
Godskin Apostle boss fight
Go to the Windmill Village and head east, climbing the stairs until you reach the windmills. When you reach the Windmills, you will encounter Godskin Apostle. Defeat him to get the Godskin Peeler and Scouring Black Flame. Next, go to the Windmill Heights site of grace and you should see Millicent on your right. Talk to her and exhaust her dialogue.
Meet Millicent
Go to the Ancient Snow Valley Ruins grace site and Millicent will be nearby. Talk to her until she tells you that she is looking for a fort. The next thing you want to do is to get to the Haligtree. Before you can do this, you need to get the two Haligtree Secret Medallions.
How to get to the Haligtree
Go to the Village of Albinaurics site of grace and head east, and you will find a jar on your right. Attack the jar and it will disappear. Talk to the NPC and he will give you the Right part of the Haligtree secret medallion. To find the next part of the medallion, go to the Castle Sol rooftop. When you reach the Castle Sol rooftop site of grace, head north then enter the tower on your right. Use the lift and climb up the platform to your right. You will find the left side of the Haligtree secret medallion on the ground. Once you have both medallions, use them on the Grand Lift of Rold. From here, use the lift to get to the Hidden Path to the Haligtree. Head north until you reach a fork in the castle. Climb up the stairs to your west and follow this path until you see a set of stairs on your right. Climb the stairs to the north and you will find a lost site of grace. Head north and out to the Consecrated Snowfield. Keep heading north until you reach Ordina, the Liturgical Town.
Ordina Puzzle Solution
Head north and when you reach the building, jump on the red roof to your left. You should see a circular platform with blue light. Head for the platform and examine both the statue and the Evergaol. When ready, enter the Evergaol. Once inside, you need to light up the 4 Figurines as listed below.
From the statue, head west, jumping down the roof until you reach the wall. From here, head south until you see a metal ladder on the building to your left. Climb up the ladder and light the flame on the statue.
Start from the last statue and head southeast, climbing the stairs. As you head east, you should see another statue on your left, parallel to a set of stairs on your right.
Go west, following the path next to the stairs. When you reach a dead-end, head east and you should see another ladder. Climb up the ladder and you will find the third statue on top of it.
From the third statue, jump down on the roof to your left then head north, using the small roof as a bridge. Keep heading north and you should see another ladder on your right. Climb this ladder to find the last statue.
Go back to Ordina and climb the ladder to the northeast to see a portal leading to the Haligtree.
Rot Worm boss
Once you are in the Haligtree, go to the Prayer room and you will see Millicent next to the pillar on your left. Talk to Millicent here and exhaust her dialogue. Go to the Elphael Inner Wall and head south. After going down the stairs, head southwest, climbing up the huge branch and following its path to the open area. Continue southeast for the waterfall and you will see some bricks near the edge. Follow the branch path again and when you reach a dead-end, go to the branch on your left. Climb up the mountain then head immediately south, to the edge of the cliff. Use the branch to go down. Go inside the lake and defeat the Rot Worm to get the Golden Seed item. Travel southwest and you will see two summoning stones. Before you decide, make sure to purchase all the spells you need from Gowry.
Both Ending Rewards
Go to your right if you wish to challenge Millicent. Defeating her will give you Millicent’s Prosthesis and if you go back to Gowry’s Shack, you can loot his body to get Flock’s Canvas Talisman and Gowry’s Bell Bearing. Go to your left if you wish, to assist Millicent. Defeat the enemies and you will get the Rotten Winged Sword Insignia. Head south at the end of the lake and you will see Millicent on the ground. Talk to her until she tells you that she wants to be alone. Reset, or fast travel, then return to the same area and take the Unalloyed Golden Needle. Go back to Gowry and you will find him laden with despair, preventing you from purchasing any spell and completing his quest. Defeat Malenia and return the Unalloyed Gold Needle. You will get Miquella’s needle and a Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone, allowing you to alter the Frenzied Flames ending.
Summary
Millicent is one of the descendants of Malenia and her body is stricken with the Scarlet Rot. If you want to unlock the alternate Frenzied Flames ending, you need to assist her to get the Unalloyed Golden Needle and exchange it after defeating Malenia. This will give you the Miquella’s Needle, which can reverse the Frenzied Flames end.
