The resulting product was a far cry from the Cyberpunk 2077 that was promised before the game’s release. This resulted in, among other controversies, Sony pulling the game from its digital storefront and offering displeased gamers refunds. After taking Cyberpunk 2077 out of the PlayStation Store, Sony assured fans that the only way for CD Projekt Red to have a chance to bring its now-infamous game back up for sale is if the studio can find a way to deliver Cyberpunk 2077 as it was intended to be. Fast forward to more than 180 days later and Cyberpunk 2077 still hasn’t lived up to expectations. Yet, Sony seems to have had a chance of heart. Sony has decided to list the futuristic game back on the PlayStation Store, albeit with a warning for players on the PS4.
Is Cyberpunk 2077 Better Now Than at Launch?
Sony and CD Projekt Red took to Twitter to let audiences know that Cyberpunk 2077 has been listed back up for sale on the PlayStation Store. However, Sony made sure to warn players interested in buying Cyberpunk 2077, stating “Work on the PS4 version continues, with fixes and updates to be released throughout the year. For the best experience on PlayStation, playing on PS4 Pro or PS5 consoles is recommended.” TLDR; Sony just said that Cyberpunk 2077 still isn’t playable on the base PS4.

It seems as if CDPR’s newest IP would’ve fared better as a next-gen exclusive. Sure, a later release date would’ve disappointed fans, but you could argue that it would’ve been better than the mess Cyberpunk 2077 was at launch. Then again, it’s no use crying over spilled milk. Besides, CDPR has also done a great job at making Cyberpunk 2077 play a lot better on the PS4 and PS4 Pro. According to a new video uploaded by ElAnalistaDeBits, Cyberpunk 2077 can now maintain a smooth 30 FPS with little to no dips on both the PS4 and PS4 Pro after patch 1.23. Still, it begs the question whether it’s all too little too late for Cyberpunk 2077 to recover from a disastrous launch. If it’s any consolation, now that Cyberpunk 2077 is in a playable state on the PS4 and PS4 Pro, CDPR can focus on making DLC content for the game. Earlier in April, the studio promised to release both free and paid DLC expansions for Cyberpunk 2077 throughout 2021. Hopefully, the future DLCs for Cyberpunk 2077 are good enough to help CDPR come back from the hole that it dug itself.
