— Halo on Paramount+ (@HaloTheSeries) September 14, 2022 The Halo show, based on the popular Xbox video game franchise of the same name, smashed the record for the most watched series premiere on Paramount+ within 24 hours of its release. To celebrate this milestone, the streaming service released the first episode for free viewing on its official YouTube channel. At the moment, Halo is the second most watched show on Paramount+ behind only 1883. Before the series premiered, Paramount+ renewed the series for a second season. This act demonstrated the faith the studio had in the series – and it eventually paid off. While the show is not a faithful adaptation of the video game franchise, it chronicles a 26th century conflict between humans and an alien race known as “The Covenant,” just like the game. The show centers around Master Chief, a cybernetically-enhanced soldier who leads a team of super soldiers like himself as they combat the threat that faces humanity. The series features Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief Petty Officer John-117, Natascha McElhone as Dr. Halsey, Danny Sapani as Captain Jacob Keyes, Olive Gray as Miranda Keyes, Charlie Murphy as Makee, Shabana Azmi as Admiral Margaret Parangosky, Yerin Ha as Kwan Ha, Bokeem Woodbine as Soren-066, Bentley Kalu as Vannak-134, Kate Kennedy as Kai-125, and Natasha Culzac as Riz-028. The new season will also feature two new cast members. Joseph Morgan, from The Originals, is set to star as James Ackerson, a “formidable intelligence operative who has spent his career climbing the ranks of the UNSC’s secretive Office of Naval Intelligence.” Also, Cristina Rodlo, from No One Gets Out Alive, is set to star as Talia Perez, “a corporal specializing in linguistics for a UNSC Marine Corp communications unit and a relatively new recruit who has yet to see any real combat.” The show was developed by Kyle Killen and Steven Kane with the renowned Steven Spielberg serving as one of the executive producers. At the moment, Paramount+ has not announced a release date for the Halo season 2. However, fans will be hoping the streaming service releases it sometime in 2023.
