Now that E3 2021 is over, GameStop has revealed its most pre-ordered games. Most of the titles on the list shouldn’t come as a surprise given that they’ve been highly anticipated for years. What Are Gamestop’s Top E3 2021 Video Game Pre-Orders?
To no one’s surprise, Nintendo takes up a huge chunk of the GameStop pre-order list. In fact, at least six titles from Nintendo are included in the Top 10, which is a lot. The most pre-ordered of them all is Metroid Dread, which makes sense. Metroid fans haven’t exactly gotten their fill of new Metroid content in years. Not to mention, Metroid Dread is the first true sequel in the original Metroid games in over a decade. Next up is The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD, which makes even more sense considering how it’s widely credited as the game that inspired The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and its sequel. Before the game’s release last June 22, it was confirmed that the game would also be available on the Xbox Game Pass. Despite this, it seems like the nostalgia was just too strong for Dungeons & Dragons fans to resist pre-ordering themselves a copy of the game. What’s most interesting here is that not a single game from Microsoft made it to GameStop’s list. The Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase at E3 2021 was arguably the highlight of the event. It saw Microsoft dropped trailers for AAA titles like Forza Horizon 5, Redfall, and Starfield, just to name a few. Even though we could argue that these games didn’t get as many pre-orders due to being available on the Xbox Game Pass, that didn’t exactly stop Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance (mentioned earlier) from beating Madden NFL 22 and Pokemon Legends: Arceus. But, if it’s any consolation, GameStop did include Halo Infinite as an honorable mention. GameStop’s top E3 2021 video game pre-orders just go to show that Nintendo is still king when it comes to quality titles. True, pre-orders don’t tell the whole story. In fact, just because a game has a lot of pre-orders doesn’t mean that it is going to be good. Case in point, Cyberpunk 2077. Still, the fact that Nintendo’s games are still the most pre-ordered is proof that Nintendo doesn’t have to worry about their games not selling well anytime soon. It’s a bittersweet fact that might just give Nintendo little incentive to release the new Nintendo Switch Pro.
