According to recent rumors, World of Warcraft: Complete Edition is coming to the Xbox console soon with Blizzard and/or Xbox announcing The Game Awards 2021.

Is Blizzard finally bringing World of Warcraft over to consoles?

World of Warcraft is one of the oldest MMORPGs in existence today. Even if it’s already 17 years old, Blizzard’s commitment towards introducing new content has helped keep the MMO relevant among modern audiences. Blizzard hasn’t confirmed just how many players are still playing World of Warcraft, but it doesn’t take an expert to know that the MMO is still a very lucrative and profitable venture for Blizzard. With that said, a move to the Xbox consoles (and possibly even the PlayStation) could help extend World of Warcraft’s life by a couple more years if not a decade. Speculations of a potential console release of World of Warcraft first popped up on Reddit and ResetEra. The original post contained a screenshot of the source code of the official Xbox website with a listing of “World of Warcraft: Complete Edition” found in the “Upcoming” category. The most interesting part here is that the listing is dated December 9, which is also when The Game Awards 2021 will take place. If Blizzard and Microsoft want to make a big splash at The Game Awards 2021, especially given that each respective studio lacks a representative for the GOTY award, announcing a console port of World of Warcraft is a great way to steal the show. Of course, nothing is confirmed yet. Not to mention, the lawsuit filed against Activision Blizzard has reportedly tainted the company in the eyes of Phil Spencer. We don’t think that the Xbox head would try and work with such a controversial company anytime soon. There are also gameplay-related concerns, such as how the game is going to work on consoles when it’s primarily designed for keyboard and mouse gaming. Thankfully, World of Warcraft fans doesn’t have to wait too long to find out if a console port of the popular MMORPG is indeed coming or not. The Game Awards 2021 will take place on December 9, 2021, at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles in front of an invited live audience. As always, Geoff Keighley will return to host the upcoming award show that will celebrate the best video games of 2021, along with announcements and reveals of upcoming titles.
