Miles Morales first appeared in the comic books back in 2011 and has since become a fan favorite. The younger Spider-Man was the star of the animated film, 2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, voiced by Shameik Moore. Shameik is set to reprise his role as Miles’ voice in the 2018 movie’s two-part sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Meanwhile, Miles was the main playable character in 2020’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales for the PS5 and he’s expected to be one of two playable characters in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. TLDR; Miles is already in a good position to take over as Spider-Man, if not star alongside Peter Parker in other media. Having said that, it was only a matter of time before the MCU introduced Miles Morales. Marvel Studios’ cinematic universe already set up the future Spider-Man’s existence with 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming when Donald Glover appeared on screen as Miles’ uncle, Aaron Davis, and referred to his nephew. So far, Kevin Feige nor Amy Pascal nor anyone of authority from the MCU or Sony has mentioned that Miles is coming to the MCU. However, this hasn’t stopped fans from speculating. Reports of Marvel Studios approaching the younger Smith for a role in the MCU don’t help either nor does Smith’s recent photo of himself wearing a movie-accurate Spider-Man mask.

— Jaden (@jaden) January 16, 2022 This isn’t to say that Smith’s Spider-Man photo was a response to the recent rumors, but the timing is odd. If nothing else, the recent upload does somewhat confirm that the Karate Kid star is interested in suiting up for Disney’s superhero franchise. Of course, Smith is a little too old to play a “younger” Miles Morales to Holland’s Spider-Man in the MCU. However, with the multiverse now open for business, all bets are off. Who knows? Smith might even star as Miles Morales from another non-MCU universe. We can’t rule out this possibility since there are also reports suggesting that Sony is exploring the possibility of a third Spider-Man film featuring Andrew Garfield. Smith might also star in his own solo Miles Morales movie, with a potential future cameo in the MCU. Another idea is for the MCU to bring him in for a cameo as an older and more “seasoned” Miles Morales in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. At the end of the day, this is all just speculation. Knowing Smith, the Hollywood actor probably just wanted to try on the mask. But, if this is Smith’s way of teasing his future in the MCU as Miles Morales, we’re all for it. Jaden Smith gained prominence after starring alongside his father in 2006’s Pursuit of Happyness. He later starred in big-budget remakes of classic films such as 2008’s The Day the Earth Stood Still and 2010’s Karate Kid. Speaking of, Daniel LaRusso’s actor, Ralph Macchio, just confirmed that Smith’s character from the 2010 film isn’t going to appear in Netflix’s Cobra Kai anytime soon.
