According to several Marvel fans all over the globe, a Netflix disclaimer on all Marvel shows on the streaming platforms reads, “Last day to watch on Netflix: February 28.” Naturally, fans wondered what this meant for the future of the now-defunct Marvel’s Netflix television series universe. It’s worth noting that the Marvel shows on Netflix were licensed out by Disney despite being branded as “Netflix Originals” to viewers.
What’s interesting here is that neither Netflix nor Disney has released an official statement. But, you could argue that this was a long time coming, Netflix was always going to lose the license to the shows, and it appears that this is going to happen on March 1. Unfortunately, this uncertainty is not putting fans concerns at ease. In particular, Netflix nor Disney revealed when and where these shows are going to be available next. Disney+ is pretty clear about maintaining its PG-13 style content, so it’s unrealistic to expect The Punisher and other Defenders-connected titles on Disney+ anytime soon. The safest bet is either Star+ or Hulu as this would require no censoring, so viewers can still enjoy the material as intended. Of course, this is all just speculation, as we don’t have answers to where and when audiences will get a chance to see Daredevil and others once they leave Netflix on March 1. If it’s any consolation, Disney has opened the doors for the other characters from Netflix’s Marvel shows for an MCU appearance. Case in point, Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock, otherwise known as Daredevil, appeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Meanwhile, Vincent Philip D’Onofrio’s Kingpin played a prominent role in Disney+’s Hawkeye, which we ranked as one of the weaker MCU entries on the streaming platform so far. In other news, Oscar Isaac is set to make his MCU debut as Moon Knight on March 30.
