When Are More PS5 Exclusives Coming?

Ryan’s latest statement comes from an interview with Nikkei (as translated by VGC), where the big boss over at PlayStation talked about how the company has made numerous recent investments in an effort to create high-quality games for the PlayStation 5. Ryan also added that Sony is not ruling out mergers and acquisitions. He then recalled back to when Sony acquired Insomniac Games in 2019. To claim that Sony plans on making more PS5-exclusive games than ever is definitely something. It’ll be interesting to see if Ryan manages to live up to his words. As of the moment, there are very few titles that are truly exclusive to the PlayStation 5. As a matter of fact, there are only three. Two of them, Astro’s Playroom and Destruction All-Stars, aren’t exactly what you’d refer to as AAA titles. Although the third, Demon’s Souls, is definitely a game worthy of buying a PS5 just to play, it’s just one title. Of course, the PS5 hasn’t been out for more than a year yet and Sony does have an incentive to make first-party titles available on both the PS4 and PS5 considering that not everyone can get their hands on Sony’s flagship console as of the moment. Hopefully, Ryan does indeed push through with his promise and we get to see even more PS5 exclusives released in the future.

What PS5 Exclusives Are Coming This 2021?

Speaking of more PS5 exclusives coming, SIE is currently preparing for the arrival of a handful of PS5 exclusive titles. First up is Housemarque’s Returnal, which is set to release on April 30. This will be followed by Insomniac Games’ Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, which will release in June 2021. There are also other Sony first-party titles set to release sometime in 2021, including Horizon Forbidden West and the next God of War game. Outside of the games that we’ve already mentioned, Sony originally intended for Gran Turismo 7 to release in 2021. Unfortunately, COVID-19 posed an issue to the game’s developers, Polyphony Digital. Because of this, Sony decided to push back the release date to 2022, as confirmed in an earlier GQ interview. In the same GQ interview, Ryan also mentioned Sony’s commitment to bringing more of their first-party titles and exclusives to the PC. The first of which was released in August 2020 with the PC version of Horizon Zero Dawn. The next PlayStation exclusive to make the jump to the PC will be Days Gone on May 18, 2021. Following these two, there are reports that PC ports of Ghost of Tsushima and God of War are coming next. As of the moment, Sony is in the midst of expanding its subscription offerings. Their Xbox Game Pass counterpart, PlayStation Plus Video Pass, was recently leaked before Sony confirmed that it will test it in Poland in the meantime.
