Earlier this year, Konami hosted the Silent Hill: Transmission, where it announced the Silent Hill 2 remake, Silent Hill: Townfall, Silent Hill F, Silent Hill: Ascension, and the Return to Silent Hill film by Christopher Gans. One thing all of these in-development Silent Hill projects have in common is that they’re all being worked on by third-party studios. There isn’t anything wrong with outsourcing Silent Hill to other developers, but this left some fans wondering if Konami had totally given up on working on a new Silent Hill themselves. Now, we just received confirmation that Konami is still sitting on at least one unannounced Silent Hill game. Silent Hill: The Short Message was first rated in South Korea and later in Taiwan. The latter came with a description as well, saying: If Konami is developing and publishing a Silent Hill game, it’s possible this is the same one that Masahiro Ito was working on that were leaked and subsequently scrubbed off the face of the internet earlier this year. Dusk Golem, a trusted source when it comes to horror leaks, certainly believes The Short Message is a different game. However, he adds that the title itself hints at the nature of the project. So, while The Short Message might not be a free demo for the Silent Hill 2 remake, Dusk Golem claims “it’s almost definitely going to be a freely released thing.” It’s unclear why Konami is withholding information about Silent Hill: The Short Message. It’s possible Konami sees the mystery element as an integral part of the franchise. If so, keeping the game from the public eye for as long as possible could help it go viral once it’s released for the PlayStation 5.
