After the first Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City trailer was released a few weeks ago, Sony Pictures has posted an update that includes the official movie poster and a vignette trailer with more of the franchise’s signature moments.
What’s next for Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City?
In the movie’s Origin Story Vignette trailer, Sony Pictures is making it clear that Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City will honor the games as much as possible. Then again, anyone who’s remotely familiar with the genre-spawning titles and watched the original trailer will notice that immediately. Still, it’s nice that Johannes Robert, the film’s director, is going out of his way to point out key details that make the film a “very faithful adaptation of the Resident Evil games.” It’s a brief tease at just 46 seconds long, however is more than enough to get fans who’ve been waiting for an authentic experience hyped. With that said, the only thing for audiences to do now is to wait for Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City to drop in theaters. Originally, the Resident Evil live-action reboot was supposed to release in September. Sony Pictures never provided a reason for the delay, but many had theories. For one, some believed that Sony did not want the film to premiere at the same time as Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. If true, this was the right call. The Simu Liu-led MCU movie went on to top Black Widow, raking in more than $400 million at the international box office. Now, Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City is set to premiere in North America on November 24. Meanwhile, UK fans will have to wait until December 3 to watch it. It is not yet clear if Sony Pictures plans on releasing Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City on any streaming platform, and if so, when.
