Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for the digital edition of the console, as it sold less than 10,000 units. Sony has always garnered massive success selling their PlayStation consoles in Japan. However, this year was significantly challenging due to supply shortages and market competition. The PS5 console sales also affected the software sales, including console-exclusive games. This console exclusivity is one of the major factors for the newer Nintendo Switch’s hardware and software sales. Currently, the Japanese software sales market is dominated by Nintendo’s Switch exclusive games, including Pokemon Scarlet & Violet leading the charts, followed by Splatoon 3, Nintendo Switch Sports, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Edition.
