Having said that, the DCEU just made headlines for all the wrong reasons this week after Ezra Miller, the lead actor for the upcoming Flash film, was arrested in Hilo, Hawaii for disorderly conduct and harassment, with a couple also reportedly filing a restraining order against Miller for breaking and entering. Shortly after the rest of the world got wind of the separate incidents, Rolling Stone reported that Miller’s future in the DCEU is in jeopardy. The publication’s sources claimed that the studio held an emergency meeting on March 30 to talk about Miller’s place in the DCEU going forward. According to the article, the DCEU might have to move on without Miller’s Flash, which Warner Bros. later refuted, as per IGN, saying that “no such emergency meeting took place,” and that Rolling Stone’s report was an “exaggeration.” In between these two reports, DCEU fans couldn’t help fan the flames by saying that Grant Gustin, the star of CW’s The Flash, should replace Miller in the DCEU going forward. Grant’s time as Barry Allen on the small screen has earned him a fanbase that could make a cameo in the DCEU happen. However, this isn’t the first time that Miller has behaved this way. In particular, a previous incident years ago involved Miller choking a female fan. Not to mention, numerous reports suggest Miller had “frequent meltdowns” while shooting The Flash. Judging by Warner Bros.’s denial of the emergency meeting, it doesn’t appear that Miller’s time in the DCEU is in jeopardy at all. At the same time, you can’t help but wonder what kind of social deviance will finally push the studio’s executives to let go of Miller. The Scarlet Speedster is an integral part of DC Comics mythos. Losing Miller would be a huge blow to the DCEU after having already lost Henry Cavill’s Superman and Ben Affleck’s Batman. For now, all DCEU fans can do is wait for what Warner Bros. has in store for Miller and his role in the cinematic universe. Until then, Warner Bros. still has a handful of comic book projects in store for the rest of the year. After the successful premiere of The Batman in March, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Black Adam and Zachary Levi’s Shazam! Fury of the Gods are set to hit theaters on October 21, 2022, and December 16, 2022, respectively. HBO Max’s Batgirl feature film is also expected to come out before the year ends.
