In a Twitter post and on the game’s official subreddit, The Division 2 social media accounts posted, “Today, we are thrilled to confirm that were will be additional content for The Division 2 released later this year!”. The Division 2 players had been assuming that the game’s fourth season was the last. That fourth season is named “End of Watch” hence it was not a reach for anyone to have assumed that Ubisoft officially abandoned the game with that season. Also, developer Ubisoft Massive already had its hands full with the development of an Avatar (based on the James Cameron film, not the American cartoon series) game and a new Star Wars game. — The Division 2 (@TheDivisionGame) February 12, 2021 While the Avatar game was announced prior to the release of The Division 2, the new Star Wars game is fresh news. There are no concrete details of the Star Wars project but it would be an open-world game set in the Star Wars universe. The game will also be using the Snowdrop engine, the same engine used in The Division 2. Yves Guillemot, Ubisoft’s CEO, made a statement during a financial call that Ubisoft Massive will work on the new Star Wars game concurrently with The Division 2. He also said that there will be more of The Division “year after year.” This statement may mean that the game will receive more updates past 2021 or a new The Division game will be up for release in the future. The Division 2, together with Ghost Recon Breakpoint, was seen as a disappointment sales-wise. However, Ubisoft promised to still continue in its support of the games. As to Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, the tactical shooter received a 20GB update last month with new features like fresh gameplay elements, time-limited events, rewards, and the introduction of new items. Also last month, Ghost Recon Breakpoint was made free to play for a weekend and received a massive discount of up to 85% on all platforms. As for the Avatar game, it has been delayed to 2022 to coincide with the Avatar 2 film. Ubisoft also made the Avatar: The Game, the original film’s tie-in back in 2009.
