The Rock describes what it’s like being inside “The Egg”

2022 is a big year for DC Comics and Warner Bros. In addition to Matt Reeves’ The Batman, which is set to hit theaters on March 4, DC fans can look forward to other DC projects as well. This includes Black Adam, which stars Dwayne Johnson as the titular anti-hero. The Hollywood superstar has spent the past several months talking about his upcoming role, as well as releasing photos of himself in full costume. For his latest tease, The Rock dropped three images of himself surrounded by several cameras in what he refers to as “The Egg”. Johnson praises the film’s VFX team in his caption now that the film is in post-production. It’s worth noting that Black Adam had already finished filming last summer. Johnson also added that he spent 10 hours sitting inside the contraption. Many are theorizing that this is all for a sequence similar to Henry Cavill’s in 2017’s Justice League and 2021’s Zack Snyder’s Justice League. The one we’re talking about is where Cavill’s Superman comes back to life and shows off his superiority by tracking the insanely fast movements of Ezra Miller’s The Flash. Given that Johnson has talked about how his Black Adam and Cavill’s Superman have similar skillsets, even hinting at his desire for an all-out brawl between the two powerhouses, a similar sequence in Black Adam would make a lot of sense. Of course, we know from the DC Fandome 2021 trailer of Black Adam that Teth Adam isn’t your typical “hero”. He might not necessarily be evil, but he’s not pure-hearted either. He isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty and even murders an entire team of soldiers as if they were nothing. A sequence similar to Cavill’s Superman tracking The Flash would only solidify just how powerful DCEU’s version of Black Adam will be.

What’s next for Black Adam?

It’s clear that the DCEU intends to use The Rock and Black Adam as a cornerstone for the DCEU going forward. Hiram Garcia has previously stated that Black Adam’s arrival will shift “the balance of power” in the DCEU. Meanwhile, the film’s producer revealed that multiple Black Adam sequels and spin-offs are on the table as well. Not to mention, The Flash’s solo outing is reportedly based on Flashpoint. TLDR; don’t expect the DCEU to ever look the same again once 2022 is all said and done. In the meantime, fans can look forward to The Rock and Garcia hyping Black Adam until its July 29 premiere. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for The Rock’s future in The Fast and Furious franchise. The Black Adam star confirmed last December that he’s firm about his decision to walk away from the series and that he wasn’t a fan of Vin Diesel’s very public plea.
