With that said, there is a sequel to Marvel’s Spider-Man coming. Sony confirmed Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 at its most recent showcase, among many other things. However, several fans felt disappointed after finding out that the game won’t arrive until 2023. Now, one of the game’s voice actors, Tony Todd, might have just inadvertently explained why Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is taking so long.

He was most recently hired to lend his voice as Spider-Man’s nemesis, Venom, in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Naturally, fans were excited knowing that someone with such a sinister voice came on for the project. When asked by a fan if Todd was really part of the game, the 66-year-old actor confirmed it and explained that he’d only been on board for around two months. He also added that the “game is massive,” which helps explain why it’s not coming for the next two years. Most already had an idea just how big Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was going to be. It had to be. After Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, the only logical step left for Insomnia to take was to put both characters in the same game together. This would make it necessary to expand the game, which Todd has now confirmed. Not to mention, as a single-player PS5 exclusive, Insomniac can focus on making sure that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 took advantage of the PS5’s hardware. We already got a glimpse of what Insomniac could do if it didn’t have to worry about making a game compatible with the PS4. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart pulled in excellent reviews, with audiences and critics alike describing the game as the perfect showcase for what the PS5 can do. With that said, Insomniac also had its hands full at the moment. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 isn’t the only superhero game that it is working on. In addition to the webhead’s next outing, Insomniac is also developing Marvel’s Wolverine, a standalone game featuring everybody’s favorite gruff and near-immortal mutant with an adamantium skeleton. Speaking of the most recent PlayStation Showcase, it was rather eventful. In addition to Marvel’s Wolverine and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Sony also revealed gameplay footage of God of War: Ragnarok and confirmed the release date of Gran Turismo 7. Sony also surprised fans by announcing Aspyr Media’s remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.
