24 Entertainment’s Naraka: Bladepoint is the newest battle royale title to hook players in by literally letting them use grappling hooks and featuring a nuanced combat system that’s quite unlike anything out there right now.
Is There a Naraka Bladepoint Trailer Available?
Technically, there isn’t. 24 Entertainment is yet to upload an official trailer ahead of the game’s release date later this 2021. However, there are tons of videos featuring everything from gameplay, beta highlights, and so much more, on the game’s official YouTube channel. What is the Naraka Bladepoint Gameplay Like?
Naraka Bladepoint starts off just like any other battle royale game. You’re dropped into a map with up to 59 other players as you (and your squad if you’re playing with friends) try to scavenge for anything from weapons to armor, consumables, as well as Souljades that can add powerful special moves while also preparing for the inevitable player encounter. Naturally, there’s a bubble that will slowly close down and constrict the playing field, limiting where all players can go until only one is left standing. While we did mention that Naraka: Bladepoint will feature close melee combat, there are ranged weapons in the game as well. You can pick up anything from rifles to cannons, bows, and repeating crossbows. However, the game’s ranged combat feels nowhere near as satisfying as fighting it out in the melee range. What’s particularly interesting about fighting against opponents in Naraka: Bladepoint is how the combat system is both simple and complicated at the same time. Melee fighting in Naraka: Bladepoint revolves around three main types of attacks: regular attacks (cannot be blocked or countered), charged attacks (can power through regular attacks), and counters (can deflect charged attacks and disarm opponents). To win against opponents, you’ll have to know which kind of attack to use in which moment. Also, to prevent button mashing, every last hit of a regular attack combo will always be a charged attack. It is this simplistic approach to the melee combat system that encourages players to put a lot of thought into each swing as they try to outwit and outplay other players in the game. Another aspect that makes Naraka: Bladepoint unique is its approach to death. All players get one resurrection until the second bubble starts making the playing field smaller. Also, whenever you die, your teammates can’t revive you. Instead, you’re turned into a spirit. You’ll then have to revive yourself using common items and running to a Soul Altar. Best of all, Naraka: Bladepoint solves the issue of traversing such an immense battlefield by giving players grappling hooks that they can use to zip around at any point or towards other players. For balancing purposes, players don’t have unlimited access to the grappling hook as each use will consume grapple spools that are scattered all over the map.
Can You Play Naraka Bladepoint Right Now?
Unfortunately, there’s no way to play Naraka: Bladepoint right now. 24 Entertainment just finished wrapping up the game’s first open beta, which lasted from April 23 until April 26 on Steam. However, it’s not all bad news. Given the success of the game’s first open beta, where Naraka: Bladepoint hit more than 120,000 concurrent players on Steam, 24 Entertainment has a good reason to try and launch a second if not third playtest. At the moment, there’s still a couple of months separating Naraka: Bladepoint from its Summer 2021 planned release date. 24 Entertainment can use this time to tweak the game based on player feedback. Not to mention, PlayStation and Xbox owners missed out on the initial open beta. Launching at least one more open beta with other consoles involved can help 24 Entertainment make the necessary improvements to Naraka: Bladepoint before it launches.
When Is the Naraka Bladepoint Release Date?
At the moment, Naraka: Bladepoint has a launch window of Summer 2021. This means that the game could launch anytime after June 20 and before September 22.
Is Naraka Bladepoint Releasing on Other Platforms?
Unlike its initial open beta run, which was exclusive to PC players via the Steam platform, Naraka Bladepoint will launch on other platforms as well. Specifically, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. This means that the game should be backwards compatible with the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X at launch. We can also assume that a next-gen version is already in the planning stage.
